Son of Sergio Mirsky, a titan of Brazilian offshore sailing, Andre was introduced to the water at just 20 days old. He grew up on board of racing machines, developing an instinctive reading of wind and water that cannot be taught in manuals—it is acquired only when the deck is your backyard from birth.

Unlike the conventional path taken by many,Olympic Podium than go to the professional sailing,  Andre's foundation was built on the ocean. This atypical journey remains his greatest competitive advantage: a systemic, profound, and holistic understanding of every position on a racing yacht, refined by five decades of continuous experience at sea.

Andre's current season is focused on the European big-boat circuit and strategic ORC campaigns in South America. His daily commitment to the sport involves:

  • TP52 Caballo Loco (ex-Phoenix): Trimmer in the highly demanding Super Series.
  • Club Swan 50 Class Lady Ghada: Strategist 
  • Maxi Swan 115 Moat: Crew member on a interstelar team
  • One-Design Focus: He maintains his physical conditioning and tactical sharpness in the Finn and Dragon classes, ensuring the precision required for any size vessel.

Andre’s career has traversed every facet of the global sailing world.

  • Major Ocean Events: Participant in the Volvo Ocean Race (2005/2006, Youth Talent for Team ABN AMRO II), World Match Race Tour, Extreme Sailing Series, and numerous transatlantic crossings and offshore races.
  • Championship Titles: Multiple-time World and European Champion in ORC and IMS classes (as Helmsman, Tactician, and Trimmer). A massive collection of Brazilian and South American titles across IMS, ORC, and IRC.
  • Grand Prix: Extensive experience in high-performance platforms including TP52, Soto40, Swan 50, Swan 36, Farr40, Extreme 40, VOR60, VOR70, Open 40 and Open 60.
  • Olympic Path: Four Olympic campaigns (Finn, Tornado, Star, Nacra 17)

When not competing, Andre Mirsky’s passion for the sea finds its home in the shipyard—a place where his technical mastery meets a deep respect for nautical history. For André, sailing is a holistic discipline; he views the sport as a seamless continuum that spans from naval engineering and structural design to the high-pressure moment of the starting gun.

His recent total refit of a 1967 CAL40 serves as a definitive case study of his capabilities. The vessel, a "pure-blood" racer with Admiral’s Cup heritage from 1969, had been left abandoned. Andre undertook a complete structural transformation: stripping the interior to the bare hull, reinforcing the hull, keel, and rudder with advanced composite materials, repositioning the chainplates, and upgrading the rig with a new carbon fiber mast and an optimized sail plan. By meticulously redistributing internal weight, he transformed this classic into the fastest CAL40 currently in existence. Today, the boat holds a highly competitive 2026 ORC rating and consistently maintains speeds on the water that challenge modern designs with significantly longer waterlines.

This project is a testament to André's fascination with composite materials—carbon, Kevlar, and beyond—as well as his deep expertise in marine electronics and rating optimization.
